The Hot spot - New Programmes Role on
The programme is funded and being implemented in Galnewa in the Anuradhapura District and in Akurana in the Kandy District। The major focus of this project is to improve livelihoods of vulnerable youth and improve living conditions of their families। The Grant is from USAID through Geneva Global।
The Sida ( Swedish ) assited programme that has been on-going since 1992 is continuing in Galnewa. The 45 women group members are managing the credit and savings components of this programme. There are several success stories, where women have improved their lives and that of their families as a result of participating in this project.
It is planned to submit a proposal to Hope for Children to implement an Early Childhood Development Programme in the Galnewa Area, with the collaboration of the Child Care Probation Officer in the area. Children and their mothers from disadvantaged households will be the primary beneficiaries .
Networking
ADAPCA is closely collaborating with Voice of Women, and all official meetings will in future be held in the Voice of Women Office, in 22/25 Polhengoda Gardens Colombo 5, as the office in Etul Kotte will continue only as a mailing address.
ADAPCA will continue its efforts at networking with other NGOs and International organizations.Regionally, ADAPCA continues to be a member of the Asia South Pacific Bureau of Adult Education.Locally, ADAPCA is collaborating with Kandurata Development Foundation in implementing the Geneva Global project.
Discussions are on the way for ADAPCA to collaborate with Women In Need for Gender sensitization / awareness programmes to be held in the near future in the project locations.
